Species Guide > White Tailed Deer

White Tailed Deer (odocoileus virginianus)

This species of deer is extremely numerous in North America, more specifically in the east part of the USA and Canada, due to an excellent conservation program.

They present gray fur throughout the body and white stains in the muzzle, neck and rear. Only males have horns, those with a plain texture and with several tips. Smaller than the Mule Deer the White Tailed Deer can weigh from 70 to 130 kg, and high between 60 and 90 cm on their shoulders and have 110 to 160 cm length. Females are 20 to 30 % smaller.
