Nyala (Tragelaphus angasii)
We can find two species of this antelope in the African continent, the Common Nyala and the Nyala of the Mountain. The mostly found is the Common Nyala, present in several Countries and regions from the east of the continent. They are found in Groups; however, they do not have a dominant male. The period of biggest activity of the Nyala is the nightfall.
Their measures vary from 1,3 m to 2 m length, from 80 cm to 1,2 m high (up to the shoulders) and weight from 60 kg to 140 kg.
The males have a chocolate-gray-brown fur, with white stripes perpendicular to the spine. The females have a brown reddish fur, also with white stripes. Yet the rare Nyala of the Mountain can only be found in a small area of big altitude, in the center of Ethiopia. With bigger physical proportions than the Common Nyala, with bigger and sturdy horns; and with the absence of white stripes.
