Hartebeest (Alcelaphus busephalus)

Living in groups of 10 to 200 animals, the Hartebeest is a sociable antelope. The male has an average height of 1 m up to the shoulders, the length of the body between 150 to 250 cm and weight of 120 kg to 220 kg. The female reach the weight of 115 kg to 180 kg, with similar size to the male. They both have horns, the male with thicker and long horns, reaching 50 cm to 75 cm.

There are many sub-species of Hartebeest, yet characteristics like the long lined face and the small neck and pointed ears are always present. Their colors may vary from red-brown up to light gray.
