Elk (Cervus canadensis)

The elk is one iconic animal that inhabits several Countries and continents. It is present in big number in North America, especially USA and Canada due to the big population control. Yet in the European and Asian continents, they are called Wapiti and present similar characteristics.

They have a fur that may vary according to the sub-species; however, more commonly present a brown color on the sides, with an area of the belly and legs going to a darker brown and a longer fur throughout the neck.

The males have majestic horns that present varied tips and rough texture; those can measure up to 150 cm length. They can weigh from 280 to 330 kg, be 130 to 160 cm high in their shoulders and have 220 to 270 cm length.
