Black Bear (Ursos americanus)
The Black Bears are very numerous in North America and are also the most dangerous for the men since they are widely distributed in areas close to the cities, making accidental encounters with human beings very common.
The males can weigh from 80 kg to 280 kg and have 1,2 m to 2 m length, from the muzzle to the tip of its tail. Females are smaller in 20% to 30% in comparison to the males.
They can be found in certain regions in North Mexico and sparse areas of the United States, such as New Mexico, California, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, among others on the West Coast, in New York, Maine, Vermont, Michigan, among others on the East Coast of the Country, in Alaska, in the North, they have the biggest concentration of Bears in a North American State. Yet in Canada, it is present in practically all the Country.
Besides the name of “Black Bear”, its fur vary according the genetics and they can be found in several colors like dark or light brown, blond, beige, gray and black.
