INTRODUCTION
The São Benedito River is located in the south of the State of Pará. Throughout its extension there are several rapids, bays, Lagoons and small affluents. Its pristine water is clear and its depth may vary from 2 to 3m, reaching 8m at the deepest points, where you can fish giant skin fish such as Gilded catfish and the Redtail catfish, those who can exceed the 50 kg. Also present, a large variety of small sized fish such as the pacu, South American catfish, barbu, striped weakfish among others.
The river forms a complex favorable to several species that are found in the region. In virgin state, it is considered one of the most preserved rivers in Brazil, where only the sport fishing is practiced and the catch and release is regulated in the region. The São Benedito River, besides fishing, is also prodigal in wildlife. Alligators, capybaras, tapirs, deer and jaguar, are seen in its shore and a multitude of birds such as macaws and toucans.
